The first shipment of my debut novel arrived a couple of weeks ago. Forgot to take a picture.

I've been hemming and hawing about how to start posting on my blog for over a week now, not knowing how to begin. For my first post, a short introduction of what I hope this blog will be should suffice.

My name is Zander Fabel. Like most people, I am a composite of many things: a newly published author, an acupuncturist, a musician, a gamer, a humanitarian, and a host of other words and titles that could define and label me. For this blog, I will focus on my writing, but I will dip into--and possibly highlight--other aspects of myself, as well.

Why have a blog at all?

To be honest, a large part of it is to grow my audience of readers so my material can make it farther and wider than marketing and word of mouth. Strangely enough, I am more interested in finding those people who will enjoy the worlds that I create and who will fall in love with my characters and stories, than being rich and famous. But making money would be a great side benefit, as I have bills to pay.

Another reason for this blog is to build connections and community. My goal is to touch hearts and minds, to lighten the heavy load that so many of us carry daily through my stories. I believe that in the days to come, we will need each other more than ever.

I think that this is a good start.
